Announcing... The virtual books in motion program
We are excited to announce that we now offer a Virtual Books in Motion program! This program is perfect for parents that have children at home or for schools that are looking for engaging virtual programs. Modern American Dance Company's professional dancers will lead your student(s) through movement activities that enhance their understanding of the themes in Kelly Yang's Front Desk!
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Choose from four 4-day programs: Pride, Family, Perseverance, and Dreams
- Each day will include a 40-minute movement activity for the theme from the book
- Each Program comes with a handout packet to guide you through the program
- Purchase the whole set of programs and meet more of MADCO's Professional Dancers!
Books in Motion promotes parents or teachers and artists working together to design a creative and inspiring curriculum that fosters appreciation for the arts, love for reading, and hands - on experiences.
Of course we still offer our traditional 8-day in person Books in Motion program for those schools who are allowing visitors.

How MADCO Works
Performance
Audiences don't just watch dance, they experience it! MADCO's Artistic team researches topics that impact the St. Louis community. Commissioned choreographers turn this research into movement, shining a light through mainstage performances.
Outreach
MADCO is known for fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment where community members grow together. The concert material turns into community outreach. MADCO works with community partners to develop a program that can be replicated for others with similar needs.
Education
Education that moves the community! Day-long dance education programs are developed for K-5th grade students. These programs reach every student in the school through performance and creative movement classes for all. MADCO works with project collaborators and partnering educators to develop a study guide for day long programming.
“MADCO was so inspiring! Using dance to help us feel what Jackie is always telling us - to be determined, work passionately, and always support your team. Leading with mental toughness and heart! What an awesome show!”
